Chamonix – our Alpine home

As indicated, Chamonix had the feel of a ski resort town. There were lots of restaurants, cafes, bakery’s coffee houses, juice bars and ice cream shops as well as sporting goods stores and bike rentals. The town was geared to tourist services and outdoor activity. Chamonix was big enough to have lots of buying options but small enough that one could walk almost everywhere. Save for during the Olympic Torch Parade, the town did not seem crowded and had a fairly relaxed atmosphere. It was the kind of venue to which one would feel comfortable coming back again.
