Underwater Videos from Curaçao, 2022

This video gallery has 24 short video clips taken with a GoPro underwater in Curaçao. It is a first attempt at underwater photography and not as polished as we might hope. It should however, give you an insight into scuba diving and the remarkable world that exists under the surface. The audio has been left intact, but feel free to mute these videos if you find the sounds of breathing annoying. Fish make sounds as well, but the microphone could not pick up these sounds.

As a further point of reference, it should be understood that colors are seen differently by human eyes underwater. As one dives deeper, human eyes lose the ability to see reds, oranges and yellows. As a result, what you will see in these videos are largely bathed in blues and greens. Most were shot in the 30′ to 50′ range under the waves. This changes if videos/photos are shot using a light source, something that was unavailable to us. We hope to improve on that in the future.

Most days, we had 40′-60′ horizontal visibility on our dives, but later in the week there were stronger currents and more silt in the water. Unfortunately, we only started using our camera after our earlier instructional dives. We also saw many more fish in our early dives, but there is still plenty to see on these short clips. We suggest watching them full-screen to get the most out of them.
