We knew when we went to the Boundary Waters for a 6-day trip in 2020 that we would see plenty of moose. After all, our entry point was the Moose River North; but we had no such luck. We were informed that Maine is the place to see moose and that there is where the biggest moose population was in the lower 48.
Earlier this year, we took a canoe trip with our grandsons to a wilderness area in the Adirondacks. Again, no moose.
We finally got to Maine, supposed pinnacle of moosedom, and we struck our yet again. The only moose we encountered were plastic, in the Maine Welcome Center or wooden cutouts when we had breakfast in Greenville the day after our trip. (FYI, if you are in Greenville for another trip, you can expect a great breakfast at the Birch Bark Bakery & Cafe. They also have a great sign.)
