Austin/Nicole Family Update – 2021
Nicole and Austin’s family live an hour-and-a-half away from us, just far enough that we feel like we should see them more often. In 2021, we made sure to visit for birthdays, holidays and occasionally to take them some wood. Jude stayed with us for a week of summer camp in Litchfield and we all joined together for a 5-day canoe trip in the Adirondacks in August. Whether in Bantam or at their home in Croton-On-Hudson, we always look forward to these get togethers and, each year, we always seem to want to visit more.
Sam and Jude are back in school after a year of home schooling. Nicole has started to return to her job at Macy’s in New York City and Austin, freed up from his home schooling gig, has started to take on some work with Colossal Media again, also in the city. Hopefully, this is a sign that some aspects of our lives are returning to “normal”.

The boys are both playing baseball, almost year-round, and Jude ran in his first road race (with his dad) this past year. The only big restriction was on Sam’s ability to go to a wilderness canoeing camp in Ontario, since Canada was closed to Americans last year. (We are keeping our fingers crossed for him in 2022)
Last August’s canoe trip was pretty special for us, as it gave us more concentrated time with our grandsons. We came away impressed with their abilities and their growth. We really enjoyed their company, no small thing when you are separated by 2 generations. Great kids.
