Sally – 2020 Update

Sally gets excited anytime the card she sent “talks” to her.

Sally is our Welsh Pembroke Corgi, originally a Christmas present from Gary to Jani, 9 years ago. She had just been weaned, at her home in Vermont, when Jani selected her from the little of pups, and now she is a beloved member of our family.

It is often said that Corgi’s don’t know that they are small dogs and that holds true for Sally. She’s is a big dog at heart, but she happens to have short legs. At 9, she still acts like a puppy at times, and is convinced she is starving.

Corgis are traditionally a herding dog, and her main method for herding is her command of a truly annoying bark. Even cows can’t tolerate it, which is why they move away from that sound. When she is not barking, she is a warm and cuddly companion who would not knowingly hurt a soul.

The Queen’s Throne

Sally likes to keep tabs on Old Forge Hollow Rd. One might say she thinks she is the queen of our road, continually passing loud judgement on joggers, cars and turkeys that might pass through her domain. She is least tolerant of large vehicles with Diesel engines.

Favorite Places

Her favorite places, however, are her food dish, or wherever a human prepares food in the kitchen. She keeps an eagle eye out for any scraps that might fall her way…

Lap Dog

One takes his/her chances when they sit in our main room, since Sally becomes a lap dog (literally) in these situations.

Tornado Watch

We had a tornado watch, on Aug. 27, 2020, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Gary had just returned from his workout at the Litchfield Fitness Center, and grabbed up Sally and went to a secure location in the basement. Jani took their picture.
